President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent two
separate congratulatory messages to The Governments and Peoples of the
Republics of Somalia and Slovenia on the joyous occasions marking the
53rd Independence Anniversary and the 22nd National Day of the two
countries respectively.
Somalia gained its independence on July 1, 1960 while Slovenia's
National Day which commemorates its Declaration of Independence in 1991
and also known as Statehood Day is celebrated June 25th annually since
1991.
In her message to His Excellency Hassan Shiek Mohamoud, President of
the Republic of Somalia, President Johnson Sirleaf extended heartfelt
congratulations and best wishes on behalf of Liberia to the Government
and People of that African country.
President Johnson Sirleaf further added that as the People of Somalia
celebrate another milestone in their National History, Liberians are
indeed happy to join their Somali counterparts in commemorating this
unique occasion.
The Liberian Leader further hoped that the bond of friendship and
solidarity existing between Liberia and Somalia would continue to grow
even stronger in the years ahead. She also prayed that Almighty Allah
will continue to shower President Mohamoud with abundant wisdom and
prolonged good health as he steers the affairs of his compatriots.
While expressing joy over the commemoration of the Slovenian National
Day, the Liberian President extended warmest felicitations to the
People of that country and added that Slovenia had been a model of
economic success and stability in the Balkans.
She then hoped that as the people of Slovenia celebrate this joyous
occasion the two Governments would explore opportunities that would
further deepen their relations for the common good of their two peoples.
