The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company says 85 percent of the Kenyan capital will go without water on Thursday and Friday next week as a result of repairs at the Ngethu Water Treatment plant

The firm’s Managing Director Eng Philip Gichuki said the complete shutdown of the plant will facilitate repairs to increasing water production.

Speaking during a press briefing, he pointed out that it will include rehabilitation of the Mwagu intake and modifications at the inlet of the Ngethu plant.

“During these two days, there will be no water in 85 percent of Nairobi. Only places like hospitals and those areas which provide essential services will not be affected,” he stated.

He stated that every effort will be made to restore the normal supply of water and urged Nairobi residents to use available water sparingly.
