President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday evening reiterated that he is keen on achieving the unity of purpose for all Kenyans.
The President noted that his mission as the leader of this nation is to ensure that all Kenyans live together as one people irrespective of colour, creed and culture.
Speaking when he hosted the Muslim community at State House, Nairobi for prayers and breaking the fast, President Kenyatta recalled his pledge to Kenyans during the campaigns saying his deepest desire was to see Kenyans united, viewing each other as brothers and sisters.
He noted that he had invited Muslims to break their fast at State House as an expression of solidarity with the Muslim community on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
He reminded them that time for politicking is over and that it is his intention to consult them regularly on issues affecting them and the nation irrespective of their political background.
He once more reiterated his desire to work and cooperate with all Kenyans in building a strong, prosperous and peaceful nation.
The President donated Sh2 million to help those disadvantaged in the Muslim community buy the necessary basic requirements during this holy month.
On his part, the Deputy President William Ruto reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensure that peace and security is guaranteed to every Kenyan.
He however, observed that all Kenyans must be involved in supporting the Government efforts in maintaining peace in the country, adding that no shedding of blood or destruction of property will once again be witnessed in the country.
He further asked the Muslim community to continue praying for the nation during this month of Ramadhan.
