This is the first time AU have conducted a review of the AMISOM mandate, this has been occasioned by the political change witnessed in 2012 with the successful end of the transitional period for Somalia.
The team visited Villa Somalia where they first met with the minister for Interior, Abdikarin Hussein Guled, the Chief of General Staff, the Police Commissioner, the head of the NSA and other senior officials from the government.
They thereafter met the President Hassan Sheikh Mahamud who also gave a briefing on his expectations of the AU/AMISOM engagement henceforth with the Somali government.
