The Somali National Army celebrated the 53rd
anniversary of its founding in a citywide celebration in Mogadishu on
Friday (April 12th), Somalia's Radio Mogadishu reported.
The festivities began at the Ministry of Defence in the early morning and continued throughout the day, with the participation of government officials such as President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Security was increased across Mogadishu from Thursday evening in order to ensure the events proceeded without incident.
