A baby girl was born in Turkish Red Crescent Society's tent-site in Somalia.
"Halima" has become the youngest guest of the tent-site in Somali capital Mogadishu.
Red Crescent is one of the Turkish institutions helping drought-stricken Africa besides the Human Rights and Freedoms (IHH) Humanitarian Aid Foundation, Turkish International Cooperation & Development Agency (TIKA), Turkish Health Ministry, Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster & Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) and Turkish Religious Affairs Authority.
Red Crescent's tent-site has been a shelter to Somalis for nearly two months.
Rahima Moallim Abdulhel delivered the first baby, "Halima", in the tent-site.
Baby's father Hussein Ahmed Abdulhel told A.A correspondent on Monday that he had been a farmer but he had to leave his farm due to drought and bring his family to the tent-site which was 100 kilometers away from his house.
Noting that when they arrived in Mogadishu, they had nothing, Abdulhel said that Red Crescent authorities gave a tent and food which made them very happy.
Halima's mother Rahima said that the teams of Red Crescent took good care of them and their newborn.
Somalia is currently facing with one of the worst droughts in the past 60 years.
The epicenter of the drought lies on the three-way border shared by Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia, a nomadic region where families heavily depend on the health of their livestock. Uganda and Djibouti have also been hit by the disaster.
Tens of thousands of people have so far been displaced due to the humanitarian situation in the region.
