Deadly Fighting Erupts in Parts of Mogadishu

At least four people died and and six more injured in fierce fighting between the Transitional Somali Governmnet forces supported by AMISOM and Alshabab, witnesses said.

The fighting in the districts of Hodan, Hawlwadag and Bondhere started after government and AMISOM troops attacked Alshabab bases.

The dead and injured were all civilians when residential buildings were hit by spray shell according  to Hospital officials.

Also, reports indicate that there are further heavy  casualties among the combatants, with the fighting said to be hot on the heels of recent heavy clashes for control of the districts affected.

Heavy bombardment and explosions being exchanged by the warring sides  could be heard in Mogadishu through out last night.

Although the situation is calm now, sporadic gun fire and shelling can still be heard and there have been no word on the latest clashes from both the government and Alshabab.
