Musa Abdullahi was hit with a stabber by his Somali business partner shortly after attending Friday prayers in the populated Zeinatul Islam Mosque.
"The two men had been embroiled in a long-standing confrontation over business deals that cropped up from a shop they owned together as partners. Abdullahi was hit and injured. An Arab congregation at the mosque seized the criminal and handed over to the local police” an eye witness Ibrahim Ali said.
Our source said the injured man who is said to be an enterprising youthful man was admitted into a local hospital where he is undergoing treatment following the ill-fated incident that stunned many Somalis.
Reliable sources indicated that the knife attack was well planned and organized as police are said to be conducting an investigation concerning the matter after which the suspect is likely to be arraigned in a local court.
Over the past few years, increasing xenophobic attacks against ethnic Somalis leaving in South Africa has been a major concern but this latest incident involving Somalis themselves, have bewildered the local Somali population.
"This incident is very up surd in nature and it is part of the problems facing Somalis everywhere in this world. We have been witnessing a lot of xenophobic attacks against Somalis but today this incident shows how we are becoming enemy to our ourselve” Ali told Hiraan Online shortly after the horrifying incident.
There is yet no official communication from the Police concerning the incident which is the first of its kind to hit the business-oriented Somalis of South Africa.
