This is to express our condolences for the family, friends, and the Somali people for the loss of one of the best educated Somalis and the only Columbus-based Somali architect, Mr. Abucar Yusuf, who died in Columbus on September 28, 2010. Mr. Abucar was dedicated to improving the lives of Somali immigrants in the United States through his relentless advocacy and community services. To his family, we want to say that his service to the community will not be forgotten.
Mr. Abucar will be remembered as the founder of the Somali Community Association of Ohio, the first Somali community service agency in the Columbus. He was a member of various community based initiatives throughout the United States and was instrumental in successfully resettling more than 10,000 Somali Bantu refugees. He was the official spokesman for the family of Nuradin Abdi, who was convicted of terror related charges in 2007.
We convey our gratefulness and appreciation for his selfless effort to improve the lives of some of the most disadvantaged members of the American society. We will all miss his presence but his advocacy and dedication to community service will not be forgotten. Let us all work harder to create the community he envisioned- a peace loving and civilized community.
Please Leave Your Condolence Comments/Halkaan tacsidaada ku dhaaf
