Three suspects were arrested in Saskatoon Thursday while Malcolm Herman, 21, appeared in provincial court, charged with manslaughter and robbery.
When he was arrested, Herman was already in custody at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre's remand unit on charges unrelated to the investigation.
At about 11 a.m. Thursday, police arrested three Saskatoon men -- a 29-year-old, a 27-year-old and 23-year-old -- and charged them with manslaughter and robbery, police said. They appear in provincial court today.
Investigators are not searching for more suspects connected to Mohamud's death, said Saskatoon police spokesperson TishaRae Stonehouse.
"Investigators are confident they have the individuals responsible," she said.
Mohamud was found dead in a parking lot on Sixth Avenue North just before midnight on July 20. Police believe the 20-year-old Somali man plummeted to his death from a sixth-floor apartment balcony.
Ryan Waddell, 27, is also charged with manslaughter and robbery. He was arrested Oct. 1 outside the Saskatoon Correctional Centre. Waddell and Herman make their next court appearances on Oct. 26.
The 29-year-old was arrested at a home on the 100 block of Grant Street. The emergency response team helped in the search after officers were warned firearms could be in the home. No guns were found.
The 27-year-old was arrested at a home on the 200 block of Avenue Y South, while police arrested the
23-year-old at a home on the 2300 block of Richardson Road.
The investigation into Mohamud's death moved quicker than usual, Stonehouse said.
"Anytime you have more than one suspect, there are more angles, more information to follow, but as far as homicide investigations go, it went relatively quickly," she said. "The release of surveillance images helped."
