SANAA, Nov 4 (Bernama)-- Somali pirates seized a Yemeni fishing boat off the port of Balhaf in Shabow province, 14 nautical miles away from the coast, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Yemen interior Ministry as saying.

The Yemeni police coastguard said the pirates captured the boat named Al-Jazeera 8 owned by the Yemeni ministry of fisheries.

The coastguard was continuing its efforts to retrieve the boat.

Heavily armed Somali pirates have increased their attacks in recent months, making tens of millions of dollars in ransoms by hijacking ships in the Indian Ocean.
