APA-Mogadishu-(Somalia) The international football governing body (FIFA) has given complete refereeing equipment to nine Somali international football referees and assistant referees, as FIFA’s effort to encourage and develop football in Somalia.

The presentation ceremony of the equipment was held at Mogadishu’s Sahafi International Hotel on Thursday, where each of the referees was given one bag full of different kinds of refereeing dress and a pair of Adidas shoes.

“This very expensive donation sent to us by FIFA was allocated to be distributed to our international referees and assistant referees and today I think that everyone of them is fully-satisfied with the smart dress,” Somali Football Federation Secretary General Mr. Abdi Qani Said Arab said in his address at the presentation ceremony.

“FIFA has always been working to enhance football activities in Somalia and it helped us in every manner and that is because of the good job we have been doing. If we don’t work hard and accomplish our responsibilities in accordance with the constitution, FIFA will not help us,” the secretary General stated, adding that FIFA loves those who accomplish their duties well.

Bashir Shire Heidar Botan, who spoke at the presentation ceremony on behalf of the Somali referees, said that they were quite grateful to the world’s highest football governing body (FIFA) for its commitment to assist the Somali Football Federation.
