APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) The president of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed arrived on Tuesday in Addis Ababa to hold meetings with officials of the Ethiopian government, which has been supporting the TFG since its establishment a few years ago.
President Sharif is scheduled to discuss with Ethiopian officials the current situation in Somalia, which is still facing serious security challenges by insurgents of the Al Shabab Islamist group.
Currently, around 5,000 Ugandan and Burundi troops are in Somalia under the African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) to help bring peace and stability to that war-torn country.
Somalia has been without an effective central government for the past 19 years.
