Pirates kidnap merchant ship off western Yemen

ABYAN, March 31 ( Saba) - The Aden Gulf-based Coastguard said that Somali pirates had kidnapped a merchant ship (ice burg) 10 nautical miles off the coast of Ahwar in Abyan governorate, the Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday .

The police said the merchant ship was bound for the United Arab Emirates, carrying generators and gas cylinders in addition to other goods.

An investigation is underway to know the fate of the ship and the place it was taken to.
