The Syracuse City School District got a big boost today to help its refugee students.
It was awarded a $1.6 million dollar grant from the state..
The money will be used in a variety of ways, including teaching the students how to speak English to ease their transition into America. The refugees come from such places as Bosnia, Somalia, and Burundi.
