Red Cross Authorized Provider Receives Special Recognition

on January 17th in Minneapolis.

 

Minneapolis/St. Paul (January 19, 2007) - The Early Childhood Resource and Training Center has been recognized by the Twin Cities Area Chapter of the American Red Cross as an outstanding Multicultural Outreach Program Authorized Provider.  Two of the center’s staff, Fadumo Egal and Malyun Du’ale, were recognized as exceptional Red Cross instructors for their work helping members of the Somali community learn first aid and CPR. Together Fadumo and Malyun taught 540 African immigrants these lifesaving skills in 2006. 

 

The partnership between the Red Cross and the Early Childhood Resource and Training Center will only continue to get stronger.  In 2007 Fadumo and Malyun aim to train more than one thousand African Immigrants in first aid and CPR.

 

In addition to the award ceremony representatives from the Twin Cities Area Chapter announced their plan to get one person in every family trained in CPR during 2007 The Year to Get Ready.  The initiative will involve the Twin Cities Area Chapter meeting with all 131 mayors from their 8-county service area.  The goal of these meetings are educate Mayors about how they can partner with the Red Cross to make their citizens safer and better prepared.
