MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's president has reversed course on what to do about millions of sacks of charcoal stockpiled in former rebel strongholds and now says they can be exported despite a U.N. embargo on the trade.

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) – In a sign Somalia's government may be willing to move away from its corrupt past, the parliament on Tuesday approved a smaller, 10-member Cabinet in a vote that serves as an important victory for the country's new prime minister.

Defense minister Yussuf Haji has blamed the rising level of insecurity in Garissa town to laxity by the police. Haji faulted the manner through which the police handle security operations in the region saying they should always be on high alert.
