Where you are right is that Somaliland may not control Shababs but Shabab ideology certainly controls Somaliland. They recently banned music. I am not kidding you. They actualy banned music. Singing, dancing, girls flirting with boys. They banned girls completely I think. And life too. Somaliland is indeed a Shababland in that sense

Without Shabab there will be no CIA money or Turkish bags or Arab ones. there will be no US arms and smiley British diplomats bearing her Maj's gifts. There will be no drones; no bases; no 'governments' no billions, no AMISOM and no UN. Hell if I were a Southern politician, elite or businesman today I will be making sure Shabab stays. As for the accusation that SL somehow likes Al-Shabab, well it is ridicolous. We need to look at who benefist from the Shabab murder and mayhem. Mogadshu does. Hawiye do. All Southerners do. Darods certainly do now running three "federa" entities including the Dir land of Kismayo now occupied by migrant darods with the help of Kenya and America. We will liberate our southern kith and kin one day. TBC
