 Fiqi et al,
Don't despair, for we will be strong, one day, and in a position to dictate to the Arabs our conditions cum temper tantrums, if we chose so!.
They will need us in the near future. More than we need them now!

 Folks,
I don't get why some people naively think that all this brouhaha is about principles. It isn't !
It's, was and will always be about money changing hands and some crooks getting wealthy on our dark skins.
Our leaders always gravitate around the highest bidders and , We, today's beggars, will get, at best, some crumples or nothing, depending on the "benevolent" buyer's largesse.  .
Arabs , all Arabs, think that they can buy any object of their desire, with money.
I see some people foolishly thinking that the minion Qataris are better masters than the wahhabi/Emirates. They are the two faces of the same coin, with the difference that the later pair has
more to offer in terms of the help we need to advance our today's cause.
As for me, if I happen to be in the slave market (سوق العبيد ), I rather not be sold cheap.

I am with Dr. Mashkuur. In fact, this neutrality stance rekindles, in a small way, that old Somali pride and code of honor, whch we had discarded. It is good to be back, be it in somewhat small way!

I tell you, the minute Arabs realize we are for sale, they will abuse us to no end--telling us what, what not! To h*ll with their money. We should not forget that Somalia is a very, very rich country. The only thing which is making us beggars is our stupidity, on which some are foolishly convincing us here that it is a permanant condition! It definitely is not!

 Secular,

"Forget about pride, diplomacy, logic and dignity: beggars have none of the above!"

Ugaas, well said. That is the comment of the day!

Tell how proud you are about this misstep of your ragtag government to the half-naked Reer Miyi who sells his two goats or the Sun-burned Bad-dhac who sells his fish catch to Salman or Zahid, not mention the other trade and money transfer businesses.
God forbid, Arabs are notorious for revenge and retaliation and they could forget the magnanimity that weak people need mercy though they have wronged you(العفو عند المقدرة ).
It`s foolish to trade S. Arabia, UAE and Egypt for tiny, arrogant Qatar.

 Guul Soomaaliya.

I am happy to call this government 'MY GOVERNMENT'. and very proud of them. Even when we are down in the dumps we can still stand tall with dignity.

May we have more this kind of actions please.

Whjat will help Farmajo et al, is that Saudi/UAE coalition do not see the conflict as serious enough to warrant any drastic action. If they did they would've declared recognition of somaliland. That'll change minds very quickly in Mogadishu. It is the only thing that can change minds in Mog.

But perhaps the most audacious act of neutrality was when Siyad Barre, the current Somali president's uncle and hero, stood firm after Sadat made peace with Israel. Every Arab league country bar Oman severed diplomatic ties with Cairo. Siyad Barre refused to do so. The Arabs fumed but did not punish Barre. Can Farmjo pull it off too? He is no Siyad Barre, but he is probably cunning enough to get away with it

Somalia has a commendable history of remaining neutral in Arab and international conflicts and keeping deadly foes as 'friends'. It was friendly with both China and USSR in the 70s when the two were vying for influence across the third world. Both Iraq and Iranian military delegations were in Mogadishu to support Somalia in the last dangerous days when we lost the Ogaden war
