 Topclan,
What I said might not be right, but is practical and convenient for the people in the region.
We can't afford another civil in this unfortunate part of this unfortunate country.
The foot soldiers of yesterday's clan wars are now battle tested hardened warriors and there won't be neither valuable spoils of war nor victories to cherish.

If what you're saying is right then I foresee nothing but war and more strive. You are right there is no logic in Somalia.

 Topclan,
Idealists end up becoming victims of frustration when events deviate from what should be a logic and desirable outcome.
It's naive to expect finding today a Mr Clean to anoint as a consensus leader of any region/enclave and everyone is making the bidding of someone, be it a foreign entity or a corrupt clan gang and endorsing such persons would require a good dose of courage/ingenuity if not manifest criminal intent.
However, from the practical point of view, for the "Other Madoobe" to challenge the FG and its temporary ally in Kismayo means resuscitating the specter of civil war and hence I would advice everyone to lower his expectation and reign in both pride and ambition to rule a larger swath of a territory that cannot be controlled except by the barrel of the gun in the hands of trusted clansmen!

So you are really convinced that an administration created and funded by foreign entity with the intention of creating a buffer zone and an administration loyalty to a foreign country is a good way to go? An administration created by the barrel of a gun, hidden and unrepresentative is better than one created in, open, representative and held in peaceful conferences? We all know which administration was the most contested and still is the most contested in Somalia.

I fail to see how a state comprising of many clans is a recipe for conflict but many states comprising of one or few clans isn't. I believe in having as few states as possible and as many clans as possible in each states. Clan loyalty already exists in Somalia and it has done nothing but damage the country we should not be trying to constitutionalise it we should be trying to bring in state and national loyalty.

What we see now when people are waving flags of their state is not really a state flag it is really their clan flag.

The people will reject you if you are unfair to them and they will reject you completely if you are unfair and have no military power. What has become apparent and clear for all to see is that the president has lost the trust of the Somali people and that is a death knell for any leader. Unlike when the Raskambooni militia and Kenya blocked ministers, MPs and politicians and elders from entering Kismayo this time it is the Somali president himself who is being blocked by his own citizens in Baydhaba from entering their city. That is quite staggering fall especially from the height he started at when he became president.

This government doesn't seem to have a long term vision because it's making decions which then turn out to be make more trouble and harder to resolve.

 Topclan, Dino et al.
I wish I could accept a regional administration inhabited by a myriad of diverse clans as envisioned by the " Other" Madoobe & Co.!
However reality on the ground and conventional wisdom tells me that the soap opera being filmed in Baidoa is nothing more than the perpetuation of the already dying ideology of warlordism and inter-clan warfare.
Here ,in Kismayo, we have a "reformed" diin/warlord (we should believe in redemption) and there we have known faces involved in inter/intra-clan atrocities in Bay/Bakool (we should believe in reconciliation) and the implication this time is deadlier than what we have seen before.
Can we afford to start the whole business from zero, again?

When would this president learn to take the initiative rather than reacting too late to problems? What a waste of a presidential space!

IJA's legitimacy is based purely on an agreement with FGS mediated by Ethiopia and IC in Addis Ababa. On the other side the illegitimacy of SW state is based only on that agreement signed in Ethiopia. The IJA looks unconstitutional but the FGS get out card is that it is interim administration not a permanent one.

Somalis, at least those who comment are becoming solo critics. Policies that do not favor their clan-driven regional locations will cause them to comment negatively on that issue or if they are visible on the ground will fight or voice against. let's face it and be honest with ourselves. Say it 'Somali-land' Punt-land Jubba-land Digil/Mirif-land, Clan is the driving fores of all things considered in Somalia.

BTW, Where was the president when all this mess started brewing more than a year ago?
At this stage, can he suggest nothing more than " Cut the goat's head and then break the pot"?
Rest in peace Abdulqadir Zoppo!
He would have convinced everyone to say " Saddeh Gobol ma fadaanno, ma fadaanno", and then everyone would have at the end voted for the three region administration!

Charity must begin at home, Mr. President fix your own problem. Look at your own office was invaded
and the intent end was to capture you. Fix that one first.
    Arlaadi3_ @ 3/30/2014 9:21 AM EST
lol, the president cant even get into the city and is restricted to airport do to the mass protest and road blocks. I encourage anyone who has sincer open mind to diversify their news outlets to truly understand all prospective and you will to realize why somalia has not been at peace for years due to injustice committed by somalies to somalies
    Arlaadi3_ @ 3/30/2014 8:59 AM EST
lol, what political rift, the 3 states was orchestrated by the president to undermine the legitimate and genuine 6 state formation conference that has been going for 1.5 year. Just to make the fog clear for the ones who dont understand the politics of this area. No one can impose something illagiment no matter how much money they spend oh mr.president the great leader because illegitimacy/injustice never gets far.

Well done to President Culusow. This is kind of trips you should be doing more instead of globetrotting like headless chicken. But the fact he cannot drive from Mogadishu to Baydhabo and has to fly speaks volumes about the security of the vital Mogadshu Baidoa road. Compare this to silanyo who travelled the length of the 500km Hargeisa to Lasqoray last week. Lets hope one day President Culusow can travel by car the 30km from Mogadshu to Afgoi.
