Although, the government at the time of former president Sh. Sharif
signed the controversial MOU, the Parliament members at the time
protested against. It was during former president Hassan Sheikh
presidency that our government took the case to the ICJ against
the will of the Kenyan government. It has been the responsibility
of our current government to continue what the previous government
started. I hope that our government doesn’t enter secret and illicit
deals with Kenya handing over our maritime territory.

I urge the traditional and religious leaders, the media, the civil
society and the Somali people at large to request the current
government to be transparent about our maritime
resources including the case at the ICJ.
