The writer forgot the dodgy but instructive Somali proverb. "if you are going to lie tell one that doesnt look like one".
Yes, there has been disturbances after elections which sadly led to some deaths. But this happens in almost every third world country where democracy is nascent and the people struggling. There was no massacre(perhaps writer does not fully understand the meaning of the term?)
Somaliland army is commanded by Brig General Shaqalle, no former SNM. In fact almost 70% of its rank and file has no links with SNM fighters of the 80s who are too old and de-mobbed long ago and are now chewing the Qat, like every other Somalilander man.
