Anybody who downplays the Independence Day of a Nation must, simply, suffer from some form of a delusional disorder- it's a slab in the face to all those who have struggled and/or sacrificed their wealth, time and their lives to achieve and realize the INDEPENDENCE of their people.

To deem 'those' glorious days as being 'catastrophic' and ' holocaustic' is just a gross mischaracterisation of history and a shameless trivitilasation of the sacrifices and the heroic achievements of the Somali people.

Mr Goth,if you are taking feysal words serious then you got a problem.June 26 is big day for all Somalis especially notherners it is not up for debate. Feysal is idiot he never talked about the Somalis who were massacred by the tigray in gaashamo for a someone who likes to talk about everything  that was interesting and the next day he was insulting Hassan sheikh Mohamud.

Lastly why do people repeat the cheesy and frankly daft thing about 'shedding blood' for independence? When did this happen? Plesae dont tell me you mean Ina Cabdille Xasan's murderous ramapage in Somaliland 60 years earlier. If that was freedom fighting death be to freedom

Mr Bahal if we cut the sentimental palaver and stick to facts, no one can deny that the union was an utter and complete failure. No one in their right man. War annagu Somali diid ma nihin ee Somalial diid baaannu nahay. Sidaa Jabuuti ayaanu dal walaalo ah oo wax idiin tara noqoneynaa.

..just to remind you just how greedy they took every position in the new supposedly united Somali govt - every single one of them. Within a week they scoffed Somaliland's national reserve of £20 million - almost £200 million in today's money. Not one penny of that money was spent in Somaliland. I dont agree with the maverick UCID leader too often, but 26 June was our catastropeh. 1st July was holocausal. We are still paying the price. Both nations not just Somaliland

26 June was a horrendous mistake - we simply were not ready for independence. We needced at lesat another 20 years to build the institutions that could run a viable state. We proved how unprepared we were when we handed over our country to Somalia which had ten years of self-rule. they swallowed us whole like a python does to a baby gazelle. And what shameless, greedy python they turned out to be TBC
