We can keep on dreaming to move forward, but this
is unlikely. The hopes of accomplishing somali unity
are slim thanks to regional states which exercise
full independence rather than autonomy within
Somalia. No regional state will forfeit their independence
to accept united one army. The true burden of federalism
Is turning into some sort of confederation.
I fear a similar scenario to the balkanisation of Yugoslavia.

 topclan,

I agree, it is time to move ahead on the critical tasks  at hand, which you listed. In the immediate terms, nothing is more vital for Somalia's comeback and progress than the liquidation of Al-Shabab. My sources tell me there is a definite and absolute determination to take the fight to Al-Shabab from air, land and sea by the US, AMISOM and, more importantly, by the burgeoning XDS. This is already underway by air daily bombardment of Al-Shabab by USAF & USMC!. An all out ground assault of persuading Al-Shabab to their deaths or surrender is on its final stages! Nothing will stop Somalia from rising up and standing tall!

I know where this is heading, and I believe to continue with this is not in the national interest.

Critics and enemies of this government want this continue until this government collapses.

It's not enough for them that wrongs made are corrected. It seems they will only be pleased when this government and without it any hope of reviving a peaceful, prosperous and united Somalia.

The FGS should admit its mistakes and correct them if it can but that should be the end of this matter. Somalia needs to move to important things like forming an independent judiciary and a professionally trained and equipped national security force to take over the security of the country.

WHAT CAN I SAY?! LET THE SHOW GO ON!

I am no longer interested in this. We, or at least I, know what this is and frankly, I am done with this!

The only point I want to make is that some of the wrongs committed early on have been corrected, such as recognising that the handover of Qalbi Dhagah was illegal, that he's a Somali citizen and ONLF is not a terrorist organisation.

I warned the FGS about doubling-down on its mistakes, but it ignored it. Nevermind! The government, especially the president, has yet to make their position clear on this. This is sad but that's the least they can do.

Frankly, I am tired of this! It's not pretty, but we have to move on and get on with our lives and hopefully do better in the future.

We need to move on from this dreadful affair but former NISA head Sanbaloolshe seems to have another idea.

I want to move on to more pressing issues. I believe that the difference between the FGS's success and failure is the formation of an independent judiciary.

Most of the problems in Somalia could be solved if we had an independent judiciary.

Can you walk properly let alone run if you've only got one leg?

Somalia's system of governance isn't complete and without an independent judiciary, there's nothing to check and balance against the executive and parliament.

This is why the presidents and PMs have always clashed and why the Federal Parliament and leaders at national and state level behave like renegades or outlaws.

The judiciary is there to make sure the law is sovereign.

At the moment, we have corrupt politicians who are acting a sovereign and doing what-ever they like.

Time to end the impunity, Farmaajo. You must immediately form an independent Judicial Service and a Constitutional Court.

I have been following Somali politics since 2011 and have never seen a Somali politician more straight forward and honest than Maryan Qasim.

Madame Qasim was the only minister out of 60 plus to oppose the Council of Ministers declaration that the Qalbi Dhagah handover was legal and proper. Put this in your history books.

To accuse her of corruption when there are more and clear acts of corruption is absolutely ridiculous!

She resigned on her own terms. She was not resigned like other officials.

Here are the real corruption that the FGS is doing nothing about: http://radiodalsan.com/en/galmudugs-haaf-confesses-used-1m-from-public-coffers-to-defend-presidency/,

I am somewhat proud of the parliament for its undertaking of this case and for its report. While Somalia's recovery is slow, things are working and headed in the right direction. I must also add that the current government is indeed the last best hope of Somalia, for its less than a year existence, it has done so much good and also avoided the usual corruption taints in Mogadishu. It has worked like hand and glove with regional administrations (FMS). It greatly advanced the completion of the constitution. It effectively ended the threatening to so many lives drought. The only thing remaining against a complete peace and progress is Al-Shabab. Al-Shabab, mark my words, will be crushed into a dust by the middle of next year. Their last 2 terrible attacks has focused the scope of the US on it. Al-Shabab will not find rest until life is snuffed from it and that is exactly on the way!
