The real window of opportunity for Somalia is temporarily closed by the American backed Ethiopian invasion. There was peace and stability, justice and real reconciliation when the Union of Islamic Courts were ruling parts of Somalia. Now criminal warlords are back, including Abdulahi Yusuf, Aidid and Ghedi, who are incompetent and corrupt. I am 100% sure that the writer of this editorial will never accept these ruthless warlords to rule his home country, but he probably thinks that it is ok if they are given an opportunity to rule an African nation. These warlords who are in the governemnt and paeliament are responsible for the death of thousands of Somalis and the destruction of the country. If they are given another chance, they will  do the same again, because that their only modus operandi. When true Somalia was Somalia Abdullahi Yussuf was a traitor. Now He is the commander in chief and it seems everyone is a traitor. One thing we need to realise is that Ethiopia will never help stabilise our country. We have to do that our self. There must be a strong force to prevent the country from  slipping back to the chaos. Even if all the warlords handover their militias and weapons, they need to be trained with nationalism in their minds instead of clannism. That will take time. Therefore, we need a neutral peacekeeping force to replace the Ethiopians.     @ 1/16/2007 12:20 PM EST  Ethiopia's involvement into Somali Political affiars did not just started with this recent invasion of Somalia. Besides colonising the Somali inhabited region of Ogaden since 1948,They were supporting the SSDF clan led by then warlord Abdullahi Yusuf since 1970's.They supported with arms and troops with the other clan groups USC and SNM since the 1980's.When in the 1990's the Somali govrnment collapsed they were directing their allies(SSDF,USC,SNM)to create Somaliland,Puntland,and other operations that made sure the instability of Somalia. When the TFG was created it made sure its allies got a lion's share of the leadership,particularly,Abdullahi Yusuf,Aiydiid,Geedi,and others.When the TFG moved to Jowhar,Mogdisho warlords were against it moving to the capital.Ironically,those warlords were also supported by Ethiopia as we later found out when they fled to Ethiopia after they were defeated by the Islamists.now that the Islamists are gone,they will resort back to its divide and rule policy to make sure no stability is achieved.Zenawe doesn't care how many Ethiopians die in this operation because he has unlimited supply of Oromo people. How can anyone believe Ethiopia has Somalia's best interest at heart.Nothing changed with their arrival,Puntland and Somaliland are still there.Barre hiiraale is back in Kismayo,Aiydiid,Mohamed dhere,Qanyare,Qaybdiid,Sudi Yalahow,Finish,and the rest of the original Mogadisho warlords are back in town with more weapons and determination. Time will tell If Ethiopia did a favor for the African union as the Author suggests,or if this scheme was bigger and far more historical than the Islamists that left Mogadisho . If somebody suggested to the American people for the sake of peace can America make president and prime minister the notorious American traitors Benedict Arnold and Robert Hansen who were spying for the British government during the American revolution and to the Soviets during the cold war respectively,I wonder how many Americans will surrender their weapons in that kind of arrangement...     dont_worry @ 1/16/2007 11:53 AM EST  Ethiopia doesnt have the power to conquer Somalia neither does the Americans unless it uses it planes and war shipsm you remember what happen in 1994 same will happen again not only to the Ethiopians and also to any other forces that invade our land its only a matter of time before people start killing Ethiopians and any forces that go there.
