Alarming article, extremely attractive way to mobilize Siomalilanders against islamic courts. The truth however remains that the way UIC are capturing territories and moving is very alarming to all the regimes in the Horn of Africa including the break away Somaliland. However, what is the solution? to alarm and cry!!! no!no! the only solution for Somaliland and puntland is to show that they are not less islamic than the Islamic courts. They should show that islamic values are well promoted officialy by the leaders in their words and deeds. Good governance is to be encouraged and prevalent curruption be curtailed. Leaders of the Somaliland should be seen in the mosques praying with their fellow citizens. They should work closely with the Islamic scholars to do all these work. They should not allianate some groups of the Islamic groups otherwise will sympathize with courts. They should not try to give lip service to the tradtional Islam by supporting sufi brotherhood orders like Qaderia or salihiya in the expence of the other groups. They should develop national strategy of promoting Islam by forming national islamic council responsible for the application of Islam in the society in gradual and progresive way. Please take note of these humble ideas as contribution to the your alarming article.

well I guess as long as one believe and talk about ghost they won't express themselves in any meaning full way. Ghost hey what about the ORI, or WRAITH!!!
My advise to you bro is the best of speech is the short and to the point one. If your problem is with UIC, I didn't heard anything but good so far.
If it is with Islam and its law regrettably so does the WEST. and hey there are no names like Islamic Democracy,Totalitarian Islam, or any other ism as well.

What alarmist rhetoric! Why worry about a problem you don’t have yet? What the UIC will become and whether they will force people behave in a certain way ten years down the road is not exactly on the top ten list for the Somali people today. Somalis in the south are concerned with peace and stability. They want the right to walk down the road and use a cell phone without being killed for it. They want the right to work and make a living without having to rely on thugs or mooryaan for protection. Those of us who enjoy these freedoms should remember that the rest of the masses deserve it too. At this point in time, it seems the only group that is willing and able to deliver these vital services are the ‘ideologues’ as you called them and I am more than willing to take a ‘wait and see’ approach. As for the Northern Somalia, I hear people there have always been resentful of the corruption and the unfairness of their officials. They may be willing to shorten their pants a bit and grow a beard for a change.
