Columbus (HOL) - A member of Somalia's Upper House of Parliament, Senator Abdirisakh Mohamed Hareed, passed away in Columbus, Ohio, the United States of America, after an illness on Sunday.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and the Speaker of the bicameral parliament have expressed condolences over the Senator's death and sent their condolences to his family and friends.
Prime Minister Barre described the deceased as a citizen who served his nation at different stages and played a significant role in building the government of Somalia.
"May God have mercy on the deceased. He served the Somali people for a long time and played a significant role in building the government of Somalia. We are asking Allah to grant him a place in heaven," the Prime Minister said.
