Somali ambassador presents credentials to Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister

Baghdad (HOL) - Somali Ambassador to Iraq, Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, presented his credentials to Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at the Ministry's headquarters in Baghdad on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The Deputy Prime Minister also received the credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Branislav Žeželj; the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Anil Bora Inan; the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi, Yunus Abdul Karim; the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, Tselane Mokuena; the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Gorazd Rencelj; and the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia, Archil Dzuliashvili.

The diplomats had separate meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister, during which they discussed establishing strong, balanced relations, enhancing cooperation between their countries, and pursuing mutual interests. Minister Hussein emphasized that Iraq's foreign policy is based on establishing strong, balanced relations and strengthening cooperation in all fields.

Minister Hussein wished the new ambassadors success in their new duties, expressing the Foreign Ministry's readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure their success in Iraq and enhance friendly relations and joint cooperation between Iraq and their countries. He also expressed his desire to open resident embassies in Iraq in the near future.

In return, the ambassadors thanked and appreciated the Minister and expressed their aspiration to further enhance their countries' relations with Iraq in various areas, thereby strengthening bilateral relations.

The new Somali Ambassador, Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, has previously served as the former Minister of Religious Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia.
