A statement from the Somali Presidential Palace said that the two leaders also discussed Ethiopia's violations against Somalia's independence and regional stability.

President Mohamud told Prime Minister Støre about Ethiopia's aggression and the Somali government's efforts to protect its country's independence and unity.

Relations between Ethiopia and Somalia have been strained since Ethiopia signed an MoU with Somaliland on January 1, 2024. The agreement, which grants Ethiopia sea access and allows for establishing a military base in Somaliland, was seen by Somalia as a violation of its sovereignty.

The President and his delegation also shared with the Norwegian Prime Minister the Somali army's victory in the fight against al-Shabab terrorists, stating that the Somali government is committed to eradicating al-Shabab and ensuring the stability of the country and the region.

President Mohamud arrived in Oslo for the Oslo Forum 2024, an annual retreat known for bringing together global leaders and policymakers to discuss peace and conflict resolution.
