Eastleigh trader calls brother while in court to help prove her Kenyan identity

A woman who had been charged with three counts of assault, damage to property and creation of disturbance comically called her brother asking for her Identification card.

This was after the prosecution told the court that Samira Abdi Rashid alongside Halima Abuka Ali was suspected to be a Somali national and not Kenyan.

Samira kept telling the court that she was born in Kenya but her ID card was misplaced and only her brother could rescue her by getting the ID number.

She then went ahead to get her phone and called the brother to inquire about the same but her efforts were thwarted when Abuka grabbed her mobile phone and handed it to an orderly. The court clerk cautioned her that the court was still proceeding and ought to show respect.

Samira and Abuka hawk fast food in Eastleigh. They were arraigned for beating business rival Hawa Mohammed Yusuf over business space on March 26, causing her injuries.

On the same day, the two insulted Hawa, saying she lives in the streets before pushing down her trolley. They broke the glass and damaged all her food valued at Sh54,000.

Sahara is said to have instructed Hawa’s husband to sell samosas, mandazi, smokies and eggs and In the evening she would join her.

On the stated day she saw Hawa next to her husband. and got jealous and accused Hawa of taking her place. The two charged suspects will remain in court until August while their nationalities are verified.
