MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali military have captured three senior Al-Shabaab officials in the country’s Hiiraan region, military officials have said.
The military radio said Tuesday an elite unit of the military seized the three officials in Hiiraan region and destroyed a training base used by the militants.
According to officials quoted by the station, those nabbed are Yusuf Hassan Ali who heads the finance department in the region, Ali Abdalla Jillow who is in charge of radicalisation and Abdullahi Isaq in charge of taxation.
The capture of the three comes barely two days after the military in Lower Shabelle region nabbed the group’s head of radicalisation Sheikh Mohamed Suleiman in Middle Shabelle region.
Somali forces have in recent months intensified operations against Al-Shabaab recovering villages in Shabelle and Jubba regions in the recent months.
