Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali government forces have arrested an alleged Al-Shabaab ringleader following covert operation in the south of Somali capital Mogadishu on Tuesday.
According to security officials, the forces conducted the operation in Janale town of Lower Shabelle region.
Radio Mogadishu reported that the operation caused no casualties.
Al-Shabaab has commented on the claims of Somali government forces.
Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab has been fighting Somalia's Western-backed government since 2007 when peacekeepers from the African Union were deployed to prop up Somalia's weak federal government.
Al-Shabaab carries out deadly attacks on military bases manned by Somali army and African Union troops.The group has not yet commented on the attack.
The group which lost the control of Mogadishu in 2011 targets hotels, restaurants, and the government institutions in the Somali capital.
