Mandera residents have been urged to be alert at all times and inform the police of suspicious activities to ensure security. There have been no terror attacks in a year. On Thursday, county commissioner Fredrick Shisia said cooperation between police and residents has improved security. “We are not taking the current lull as normal because we know the enemy can capitalise on the slightest loophole to strike,” he said.“We have put in measures to ensure such a thing does not happen again. Our security officers are working round the clock.”
Shisia said security officials are working closely with their Bula Hawa counterparts in Somalia. “We relate with our counterparts from Somalia. We cooperate in strategy. Ours is a need-based relationship,” he said.
