"If we stay in Somalia it's a problem. If we leave, it's another problem." It took 'Omar', 18, two years to get to Europe from Somalia. Fleeing al-Shabaab recruitment in his village he risked his life in the desperate search for safety. In Libya, human traffickers imprisoned and assaulted him. He survived a perilous boat crossing in the Mediterranean.
Now staying at a shelter for unaccompanied children in Sicily, Italy, Omar says: "I think of my family every morning... I would like to bring my father, sister, brother and mother here. If they can come here I will have peace in my heart."
Over 90% of refugee and migrant children arriving in Italy this year are unaccompanied. Find out more: http://uni.cf/21iNJo9
