MOGADISHU (HOL)---Somali security forces backed by African Union forces based in Baidoa town, south-western Somalia have launched a large-scale security operation in the town two days after the
Al-Qaeda-linked militants in Somalia carried out a deadly attack targeting south-Western state's headquarters.
The security sweep saw troops conducting house-to-house operation aimed at apprehending suspecting culprits who colluded in Friday's attack in the town that killed at least 10 people, mostly soldiers.
Security officials in the town told reporters Saturday that three men were arrested, including the alleged driver of the car used by the attackers who raided the regional administration's presidential palace.
Al-Shabab claimed the responsibility for the attack which sent shockwaves across the town which saw series of deadly attacks by Al-shabab.
The group's spokesman vowed more attacks targeting the Baidoa-based administration.
