NEW YORK (AP) - The release date for the latest book by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a women's rights advocate and leading critic of Islam, has been moved up from late April to March 24.

HarperCollins Publishers announced the new date Tuesday for Hirsi Ali's "Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now." The book includes her thoughts on the January shootings in Paris at the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Her editor, Adam Bellow, said Hirsi Ali's "timely and important" message should be heard as soon as possible.

The Somali-born Hirsi Ali is a Muslim atheist who emigrated to the U.S. in 2006 after facing death threats in the Netherlands, where she had been a member of parliament and a target for extremists.

Her previous books include the memoir "Infidel."
