Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa said that Avant-Garde has full permission and the clearance from the Ministry of Defence to provide security to ships against Somali pirates. Defence State Minister Ruwan Wijewardene has also said that this private security firm has all the licenses to operate such a facility.

The firm has also made the relevant payments by implementing anti-pirates projects to the government according to the agreement.

However, the problem regarding the armouries found at the Navy is there and the the Navy is investigating this separately. While there is an on going investigation, the Chairman of Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd Major Nissanka Senadhipathi has informed Courts that he has to attend the meeting and signing of a multi- million dollar contract which is foreign income earning to Sri Lanka in Nigeria. Upon examination of all the documents pertaining to this meeting and contract, the magistrate ascertained that this would be beneficial to the country and allowed Senadhipathi to go abroad for one week.

He returned before the one week deadline and surrendered his passport to the Courts as stipulated earlier.

Minister Wijadasa Rajapakshe denied the allegation leveled against him by DNA Parliamentary Group Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake of his mediation to get the impounded passport of Nishshanka Senadhipath released by speaking to the Solicitor General.

The minister said that he speaks with the Solicitor General on various matters and not specially about this matter. He further said that the JVP is making various allegations today, but, they did not speak of supporting President Maithripala Sirisena on any political stage during the previous Presidential election. They did not ask the public not to vote for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

But today, they are trying too take credit for establishingthis government in a bogus manner. If not they know, they stand to lose their three Parliamentary seats at the next general election.
