HARGEISA (HOL) ---- At least two people were wounded after forces from the breakaway region of Somaliland attacked a village in northern Somalia, residents said on Tuesday.
The fighting in Horu-Fadhi, a village in the north of Buhodle, the provincial capital of Khaatumo, an administration fighting to secede from Somaliland started after Somaliland forces attacked the village,
prompting gunfire with villagers in the area.
Residents reported that the fighting started after the troops entered the town with armed militia fought them on the streets of the town.
No comments could be reached from Somaliland authorities on the latest clashes, however, security sources told HOL that the troops were aiming capturing local officials travelling through the town.
The information minister for Khaatumo Administration said their forces repelled the attack by Somaliland forces.
The town has seen numerous deadly clashes between the two sides for the past two years. Residents anticipate more clashes as two sides mobilized forces for a fighting for the control of the contested town.
