Brian Randolph, 23, left the Vibe Credit Union in South Lyon, Michigan with $8,100 in cash after entering the building and passing a note demanding money.

He was arrested two days later after investigators appealed to the public to help find him by posting his image to Facebook.

His one-year-old daughter Brailynn has retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer that can affect young children.

After her health insurance was halted suddenly, Mr Randoph was unable to pay for her chemotherapy and allegedly robbed the bank to fund the monthly treatment.

Randolph's girlfriend told 7 Action news that he robbed the bank because he was left with no other choice.

"I'm not sure what he was thinking at that point, but at the end of the day the only thing I can think about is him trying to take care of his child."   BRIAN RANDOLPH'S GIRLFRIEND said.

Randolph was charged with armed robbery and bank robbery and had his bail set at $500,000.
