Today Eid Al fitr was celebrated all over the world by Muslims who welcomed the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The Somali communities both at home and abroad welcomed the end of the Holy month with great fanfare and celebrations which are expected to last for at least 3 days. Within Somalia, Eid is a national holiday and those in the Diaspora have joined in this festive day by holding their own prayers, gatherings and celebrations in every corner of the world.

Indeed Eid is a time of happiness and it is no coincidence that Eid in Arabic means the day of happiness.

HOL has gathered pictures from Eid celebrations across the world which the Somali people have participated in. We hope all our readers enjoy them as they bring to life the meaning of Eid itself.

Eid Mubarak to all our readers from HOL.
