A Somali police officer has shot and killed his pregnant wife in Mogadishu’s Hodon distinct on Friday night, according to relatives who talked to the media today.
Sources said that the police officer killed his wife at home after an argument between them.
Relatives have taken the dead body of Nadiifo Ahmed from her home early on Saturday morning.
“It was last night when he killed his wife and as we have been told there was an argument between them and he then opened fire on her immediately—she died on the spot” a sister of the late Nadifo was quoted as saying.
“It is really very unfortunate experience that a husband kills his wife and her unborn baby” she said.
Such fatal incident is very rare in Somalia and it was yet unclear what kind of an argument that could have caused a man to shoot and kill his wife.
Police in the Hodon district said they were pursuing the fugitive soldier.
