As two parliamentarians were killed in Somalia in 24 hours’ time this week, the Al-Shabab militants fighting in the country threatened they will intensify their targeted assassinations against members of the legislative council.

The group’s spokesman Sheik Ali Mahmoud Raghe popularly known as Sheik Ali Dhere said in an interview on Al Andalus Radio  that  “ the lawmakers were the main targets for his fighters” accusing the MPs of being responsible for breaking Allah’s law.

“They call themselves as ‘lawmakers’ and instead they want to get rid of the law sent down by Allah---they want to misguide our people with their illusion and that is the main reason we are targeting them” Sheik Ali Dhere explained.

“The parliamentarians are the first people we are fighting with, because they want to draw a so-called law rather than that of Allah and we are fully against that endeavor” the militant spokesman noted during interview with Al Shabab’s Al Andalus Radio which operates from an unknown place in Somalia.

Sheik Ali Dhere called on his fighters to shoot and kill the Somali lawmakers everywhere in the country adding that nothing can prevent them from assassinating parliamentarians.

He denied Mogadishu Mayor’s recent speech that the security in the capital was developing. “There is no law and order in Mogadishu” the militant spokesman noted adding there was not even reliable security in the city.

“If they are thinking that AMISOM or any other forces can secure them, I want to tell them that we entered the presidential palace earlier in the year and before we also killed AMISOM’s deputy commander” the militant spokesman accentuated.
