Somali Prime Minister AbdiWeli Sheik Ahmed said Tuesday that what he termed as ‘terrorist’ acts in the country will not deter his government from realising its ambitions to stabilise the war-devastated country.

The prime minister’s speech comes as another Parliament member was assassinated in the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday.

In a press statement of which HOL obtained a copy, Prime Minister AbdiWeli Sheik Ahmed sent his heart-felt condolence to the family, relatives and friends of a parliament member AbdulAziz Isaq Mursal who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mogadishu Tuesday morning.

“The terrorist acts will not deter us from stabilising Somalia and the continuation of efforts to revive our strong sovereignty---such targeted assassinations will not terrorise the government and the Somali people too” Prime Minister Abdi Weli Sheik Ahmed noted in his press statement on Tuesday.

The PM said that his government will take every possible step to ensure the safety of its citizens and the security of the country adding that perpetrators will not escape from being brought to justice.

He urged the security elements and district commissioners in the Banadir region to step up security operations to be able to arrest culprits who were responsible for the latest killings.
