At least 85 Somali nationals including women and children deported from Kenya have arrived in Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Somali ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ali Nur Ameeriko was accompanying the deported people who were received at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle international airport by Somali government officials including lawmakers and the state minister of foreign affairs Bur’i Mohamed Hamza.

The deported Nationals were among hundreds of Somalis arrested from their homes in the Somali-dominant neighbourhood of Eastleigh in Kenyan capital Nairobi for the past several days.

In the aftermath of bombings in Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered his forces to conduct a month-long operation which mainly targeting Somali refugees in Kenya.

More than 15 hundred people are being held at the open grounds of sporting facilities in Nairobi. They were arrested since the operation began last week.

“We have been dealt with inhumanly during our captivity in Nairobi, the Kenyan soldiers tortured us” some of the deportees told the media at the Aden Abdulle airport on Wednesday adding that they also witnessed some Somalis who cannot even walk after they were beaten badly by the Kenyan police.

Local Somali media reported that some women have given birth at Kenyan sporting facilities where they are being held after police custodies in Nairobi became full of inmates.

Kenyan government said that it was committed to deporting every single Somali with no legal Kenyan residence permit.
