The Speaker of the Somali National Assembly,
Professor Mohamed Osman Jawari, said yesterday (March 24) that Somali
Government troops had recaptured the Bakool regional capital of Hudur.
After Government forces and Ethiopian troops withdrew from the town a
week ago, Al Shabaab had briefly taken control. Professor Jawari who
was speaking at Baidoa airport, confirmed that the town was now back in
the hands of the government.
Meanwhile, Government forces together with
Ethiopian troops have been moving out of Garbaharey, in neighboring Gedo
region to attack Al-Shabaab positions, taking over strategic positions
around the town.
