Djiboutian opposition leader Ahmed Youssouf, president of the Union for National Salvation (USN), was rushed to hospital Tuesday (August 13th) after suffering cardiac arrest, USN coalition announced on its Twitter account.

Youssouf is in stable condition, under observation at the martial pavilion at Peletier General Hospital.

The Djiboutian opposition refused to recognise the results of the February 22nd parliamentary elections, claiming they had been rigged. In response, the government has been cracking down on the opposition, including arresting Youssouf at a USN meeting in June.
