What's the world doing? Some have been held by Somali pirates for over three years.
LAST week, to coincide with the end of Ramadan, the families of
the crew of the pirated and wrecked merchant ship Albedo released an
emotional appeal to the people of the Somali communities worldwide for
help in securing their relatives' release.
The appeal was distributed by the Maritime Piracy Humanitarian
Response Programme (MPHRP), which has been working hard to support the
families and achieve their release.
The Albedo was hijacked by armed Somali pirates in November 2010. It
anchored off the country's coast, with the crew held on board.
Negotiations dragged on and the Pakistani nationals on board were
released; others from Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka continue to be
held.
