About 200 Somali police officers will be
deployed in Buurhakaba this week, marking the town's first police
presence since it was liberated from al-Shabaab in February, Somalia's
RBC Radio reported Monday (April 15th).
Police are expected to arrive within four days, said District Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed Yusuf.
"Since the liberation from al-Shabaab, the military forces of Somalia
and AMISOM (African Union Mission in Somalia) [have been taking care
of] security of the town, but now the need is for the police force," he
said.
