Ahead of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, Somalia national soccer team is set to be the earliest team to set foot into the country after a delegation of 3 officials and 21 players of the arrives in Uganda through Entebbe International Airport today Thursday 8th November 2012 for the 36th edition of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup Scheduled for 24th November 2012 to 8th December 2012.
They are booked at Mandela National Stadium Hotel for the two weeks before the tournament. The delegation includes Mr. Yahye Mohamed Abukar (Team Manager), Abdi Farah Ali (Head Coach), Abdi Isak Mohamed (Asst. Coach).
The players include;
Abdikarin Abukar Nur, Mohamud Abdinur Mohamed, Ahmed Tahlil Ali, Aweys Hagi Amin, Yasin Mohamed Idris, Jibril Hassan Mohamed, Sadaq Abdulkadir Mohamud, Ahmed Abdulkadir Daud, Daud Abdullahi Hassan, Hamsa Mohamed Mukhtar, Abdullahi Macallin Cabdullahi, Ahmed Abdulkadir Dahir, Mohamed Salah Hussein, Mohamed Hassan Ali, Said Mohamed Mohamud, Tahlil Mohamed Mohamud, Adan Hussein Ibrahim, Muhsin Mohamed Abdalla, Maha Mohamed Hagi, Dadir Amin Ali and Ahmed Osman Abdulle.
The major reason for their early arrival is the insurgence in their country that can’t allow favourable preparations. Uganda is the defending champions and the last time the tournament was hosted in Kampala, the Cranes beat Kenya 1-0 in the finals to lift the title.
