Wednesday, March 21, 2012 (HOL) - Heavy fighting erupted in Teed town in the Elbarde and Hudur districts of Bakool region.
Alshabab militants say they have attacked Ethiopian troops advancing towards Hudur which is controlled by Alshabab.
The group claims to have inflicted heavy losses against Ethiopian troops.
Civilians in Hudur and surrounding areas started to flee fearing for their lives.
Ethiopians officials are yet to comment on the the attack.
Ethiopian troops captured Beledweyne and Baidao cities in Somalia late last year and vowed to drive out Alshabab from the country, accusing the group of undermining regional stability.
Hiiraan Online cannot verify the authenticity of the reports in the fighting as Alshabab stepped up attacks in different targets.
